Success Story: How a French-Language Proficiency Draw Helped Our Client Secure Permanent Residency from Turkiye
Oct 16, 2024
We’re excited to share an inspiring success story that highlights the advantages of category-based draws in the Express Entry system.
Our client, born in Turkiye in 1994 and still residing in Turkiye, is a Business Development Specialist with nearly 4 years of experience. Despite his education and professional background, his general CRS score for the Federal Skilled Worker Class was not very competitive. Like many others, he faced the challenge of no general Federal Skilled Worker draws since April 2024, which made the path to permanent residency even tougher. Had he pursued this route alone, his journey to Canadian PR would have been an uphill battle.
But here’s where his story takes a turn.
Back in high school, he attended Lycée Notre Dame de Sion in Istanbul, where he built a solid foundation in the French language. Recognizing the advantage of French proficiency for Express Entry, he made a strategic decision. A year ago, he began studying French intensely, focusing on improving his language skills specifically to build a strong case for Canadian PR. After three attempts, he finally achieved scores above 7 in all four language abilities in the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (TCF exam).
Once he scored the necessary language levels in the TCF exam, we immediately added his profile to the Express Entry pool to take advantage of the French-Language Proficiency Draws. It’s crucial to act fast because these draws for specific categories are not conducted frequently either. Within just 2-3 months, he received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through the October 10, 2024, Express Entry French-Language Proficiency Draw with a CRS cut-off score of 444—much lower than the cut-offs for other streams!
Once the ITA came in, we were ready. In anticipation of this result, our office had already begun preparing his file. We had carefully collected all required documents, drafted the necessary employment letters, and initiated translations. Everything was done in full compliance with IRCC completeness guidelines. As a result, we were able to finalize his file within just 6 days, ensuring that nothing was left to chance.
Thanks to the Category Based French-Language Proficiency stream, he is now on the path to obtaining permanent residency—all while still residing in Turkiye and without the need to take on the risks of moving to Canada first. His strategic focus on language proficiency and our timely action unlocked a faster, more accessible route to his Canadian dream.
This is exactly why we believe category-based Express Entry streams can open doors for candidates facing challenges like low CRS scores or no Canadian experience. As we look ahead, it’s clear that securing permanent residency will require carefully crafted strategies months in advance to take full advantage of the opportunities within Canada’s immigration pathways.
